Parallel configuration

Parallel configuration occurs when two or more generator sets are connected to an electrical bus in synchronism, thus adding their individual capacities, regardless of whether they are the same or not.

Example: 02 parallel machines of 500kVA = 1000kVA.

This type of connection allows several machines to be interconnected, generating a high power from smaller machines. In specific projects, we can find more than 15 generators on the same bus.

The main advantage of the parallel configuration is the possibility of acquiring solutions for high power generator sets at a lower price. For example, 02 machines of 500kVA have a lower price than 01 machine of 1000kVA.

In addition, there is greater ease and lower cost of acquiring spare parts, since generators of up to 800kVA are manufactured in Brazil.

Another advantage is found in the possibility of independent operation of the machines: if the feeding system allows, when there is a problem in one machine, the other one continues to work, feeding part of the system.

It should be noted that in the parallel configuration there is a need for more physical space to accommodate a greater number of generator sets.
